Ordering
Orders can be placed via whatsapp or the Facebook page. All the specifications and finer details of your order will be discussed, confirmed and recorded by me. Ideally I need 2 weeks notice from the day you require your order, at the very latest 1 week but this depends upon how busy I am at that particular time. Please still enquire as I may be able to fit you in last minute. I have not turned an order away yet, except when on holidays.
Price Quotations
All price quotations, written or verbal, are valid for 3 days from the date of quotation. The booking fee must be paid within that time to secure the date. If you have not paid within 3 days, please contact me again for a quote and to check if the date is still available.
Payment
Payment must be made before collection via bank transfer or it can be made upon collection in cash. A non-refundable booking fee of a minimum of £15 applies to all orders. Please see cancellation policy regarding refunds.
Alterations
Please notify me as soon as possible after ordering if you would like anything changed. I cannot guarantee that I will be able to make the desired changes – this will depend on notice given. Some changes may incur extra charges, these will be confirmed with you before I go ahead with the changes.
Cancellation
Please inform me as soon as possible if you would like to cancel or move your order. If I have already started the cake and am unable to use it for another customer or completed it altogether I may have to retain part or whole of your booking fee to cover time and ingredients. I do always try to make sure that the customer does not lose out unnecessarily. Should I have to cancel due to unforseen circumstances beyond my control I would refund any payment already made but this is something that has not happened to date and would only be in very extreme circumstances.
Special Requests & Dietary Requirements
Upon request I can make cakes without dairy, nuts or gluten, however I cannot guarantee no cross contamination as I use these products in my kitchen, so they are not suitable for severely allergic customers. Please feel free to contact me to discuss any dietary needs. I only ever use good quality ingredients.
Collection and Transport
Cakes can be collected from my home in Eastfield. Please let me know when you plan to collect and I will message you the address.
The cake must be held UNDERNEATH the box, never putting any pressure on the sides. Do not rest the cake against your body. It must be transported on a flat surface (boot or footwell), not on a lap or on a car seat. It must be stored in the fridge unless I have instructed you otherwise on pick up. If you intend to display it must be displayed away from direct sunlight, windows or plastic screens and in a cool environment.
NB Cake O’Clock will not be liable for any damage to the cake once the customer has collected it.
Site and Venue Conditions
I reserve the right to refuse set up of a cake in any location that is not properly air conditioned or weather proofed or on any cake plateau or stand that does not appear sturdy enough to hold the weight of our cakes. All efforts will be made to work with venue staff to find placement better suited for your cake to make sure it looks beautiful on your arrival. Cake is heavy and requires a perfectly level and sturdy table and cake plateau/stand. I cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by tables or cake plateaus/stands that were unable to withstand the weight of my cakes or improperly installed, or installed at a lean. Once cakes are set up, they are not intended to be moved until served. I am not responsible for damage caused by others after the cake is set up by me.
Please be aware that tiered tall cakes on a standard height table may require a step stool or step ladder to disassemble and serve.
Fresh Flowers
Please make sure your choice of fresh flowers is suitable for cakes as I cannot be held responsible for any illness or other issues caused by the flowers on the cake (please consult your florist). I reserve the right to refuse to put any flowers known to be toxic on the cake. Every care will be taken in making the flowers food safe, however they are a living plant that may have pesticides, dust, bugs etc on them. I cannot be held responsible for any outcome if the flowers are put on the cake by someone else, this includes any damage that may be done to the cake.
Variations In Design
While I make every effort to provide exactly the flavour, filling, decoration, size, colour, shape, and design discussed during consultations, creating cake is an art form and may be subject to variations. If the customer supplies an image or likeness to be created, I will make every attempt to make the item as close to the likeness as possible. In the event that the product requires equipment or ingredients that cannot be obtained within the time allotted (exotic flavours, moulds, shapes, stamps, texture, additional novelty such as glitter), the closest resemblance available will be used to complete the product. Colour matching is not a precise science and different sugar substrates take colour differently. I will do everything possible to make substrates match to each other and to match provided colour swatches, but sometimes it is not possible to make a 100% perfect colour match and some colours are just not achievable using food grade dyes. I cannot match a “verbal” colour or a colour sent via an electronic device, as all monitors display colour differently. To get the best match possible, you could provide a colour swatch.
To maintain stability and the integrity of your event cake, I reserve the right to make design and structural changes to your cake on site or off, without prior notification. This will only happen if absolutely necessary.
When a free raffle is announced on Facebook, only people who have followed the instructions will be entered into the raffle.
Only one entry per person applies for free raffles.
Booking
The course can be booked via telephone, whatsapp or messenger. Full amount must be paid upon booking (bank transfer or cash) to secure your place. Your place is not booked until full payment has been received.
Cancellations
Cake O'Clock holds the right to cancel or change an advertised course. In these circumstances Cake O'Clock will normally arrange an alternative date and offer students either a transfer to this date or, if this date is not convenient, an alternative course. If neither is possible a full refund will be offered. Travel and/or accommodation expenses will not be compensated for.
In the unlikely event that the tutor is unable to teach the class, Cake O'Clock will arrange an alternative date for the course.
In the event of unfavourable weather conditions Cake O'Clock will make the decision to cancel a class if we consider it unsafe to access the local main roads surrounding our classroom in Eastfield. If you are attending a regular weekly class or a multiple day workshop that has already begun, a 'catch up' date will be arranged. If you are booked onto a One Day workshop that has not yet started Cake O'Clock will offer students either a transfer to an alternative date, a transfer to a different course or the option to receive a full refund.
If our class location is unaffected by bad weather but you are unable to attend a course because of the conditions local to you, unfortunately we will not be able to offer an alternative date or refund.
Refunds and Transfers
If you have booked your place more than 4 weeks before the date of the course and you wish to cancell within 24hrs, you may do so and full refund will be provided
We are unable to offer any refunds should you decide to cancel or are unable to attend your course for whatever reason.
In exceptional circumstances, students who are unable to attend may transfer to another course if Cake O'Clock is able to re-sell their original place to another student. This transfer is solely at our discretion and you will incur a £20 administration fee.
No transfer will be offered if the following circumstances apply:
You may, at any point in time, transfer your course to another person by yourself if you are unable to attend. You must notify Cake O'Clock as soon as possible but no later than an hour before the start of the course of such a change.
